Play All Day

As I was looking at my last few posts, I realized I haven't really posted any pictures of Charlotte since our trip to D.C. She's been very busy playing and exploring everything she can get her hands onto. I definitely have to keep a close eye on her because she likes to put everything in her mouth. No matter how many times I sweep or vacuum, she always seems to find something I've missed.After tests, Daddy bought Charlotte some new sunglasses.

Watermelon Carving

Last night it was Adam's turn to plan our date night. His idea...carving a watermelon. We each had our own side to carve. We couldn't look at each other's designs until finished. We were going to put the pictures up on the blog and let people vote for the best one, but by the time we were done it was pretty obvious which carving would win. Here's mine:and here's Adam's:Mine's totally better, right? Okay, I know you can't even tell what mine is. It was supposed to be a bunny in an Easter basket. Now can you see it? Still no? Okay, I know I stink at carving watermelons. Adam's is beautiful and very clear. He pretty much is better than me with all things that require using hands. After all this hard work we destroyed it and ate the watermelon.
I know we look a little miserable in these pictures. We weren't. It was the end of a long test week...we were both deprived of sleep at this point. The date was most enjoyable!

Flirting or Not?

Shortly after Adam and I got married, my nice, hot shower was interrupted by a cup of cold water being poured on me from above the shower curtain! ARGH! I was not happy. This began a long debate between Adam and I as to whether pouring cold water on your spouse is considered flirting or not. Since then, I have had snow balls thrown at me while walking to/from my car, my cup tipped back as I'm drinking from it (leading to cold water going up my nose and all over my face), and I've been pushed into cold water running from the shower head. It always makes me mad, and then Adam gets upset because I get mad and don't start a water fight.
A friend of mine had her husband pour cold water on her while she was in the shower. It made me think...how many people consider this to be flirting? Don't get me wrong...I enjoy a good prank, but I do not consider cold water on me as a flirtatious act. What do you think....flirting or not???

Cheerios

The other day, our friend's little girl was eating Cheerios. Charlotte seemed so interested in what she was doing, so I decided to buy some Cheerios when I was at the store on Tuesday. It took her a couple days of practice and a lot of Cheerios on the floor, but this morning it finally clicked. She can now feed herself Cheerios.

Some of My NEW Faves

Sometimes you discover great things through a friend. Last night my friend, Sarah, and I went to the Missy Higgins concert. I had never heard of Missy Higgins before, but it was love at first sound. Sarah introduced me to her music. Missy is Australian and you can hear her cool accent when she sings...I have a crush on it. You will too! Listen HERE.

We went to the House of Blues in Cleveland, and it was so much fun! We were able to be close to the stage, but because of the "no flash photography" rule, I couldn't get very good pictures. Missy was actually the last performer.
The first was a girl named Lenka and her music is so happy! She's also Australian.

Neither Sarah nor I were familiar with her, but you couldn't help getting into her music. I recommend CHECKING HER OUT. She's my favorite singer right now. Justin Nozuka also performed, but I wasn't a huge fan.

The concert was a lot of fun, but our feet and backs were so sore after standing for four hours! Totally worth it!

Charlotte+Easton=True (Baby) Love

Our friends that went with us to D.C. have a baby boy two months older than Charlotte. His name is Easton and when Charlotte saw him, it was love at first sight. They were so cute with each other during the trip. Charlotte, being the flirt that she is, was constantly smiling at Easton. Easton kept trying to hold her hand. Every once in a while they were both coordinated enough to accomplish this! We dressed them (unintentionally) in onsies with chicks on the front one day. I was so excited about their matching that I had to snap a picture.Easton isn't too big a fan of taking baths (I think it's a guy thing. Haha!), and would usually cry a little when he had to take one. After swimming one night, we threw them in the bath together to get the chlorine off. Easton actually enjoyed the bath that night and learned that any unpleasant task can be made bearable with a cute girl around! ;)

Washington D.C. -The Zoo (Day Three)

We spent out last full day in D.C. at the zoo. It was a great zoo with tons to see! We came across a very cute little monkey: In all seriousness though, we did see some very cute animals. Like...sea otters (I thought of you, mom),

a red panda,

a pigmy hippo,

seals,

and my favorite...the momma gorilla feeding her baby. I have a soft spot in my heart for mothers, so when I saw this momma taking such good care of her baby my heart melted. It was a reminder to me that mothers are nurturers. We all love our babies and want to do all in our power to make them happy and safe.

Washington D.C. - The City (Day Two)

So, there is A LOT to do in D.C. We didn't touch half of it, but we did enjoy what we did get to see. I would love to go back. The great thing about this city is that everything is pretty much free. That is great for a student budget! We took the metro into the city. Charlotte looked a little confused and very grateful that she didn't have to go back into a carseat after having been in one for six hours the previous day.When we stepped off the metro, we saw the capital in one direction... and the Washington Monument in the other.Our first stop was the Museum of Natural History.We took a lunch break at Ollie's Trolly. It was as bright yellow burger place that seemed pretty popular.Adam and Josh didn't seem to interested in anything inside the Museum of American History. While Sarah and I browsed the exhibit on the First Ladies, they went to see if they could find a sports section. They were very disappointed when all that was in that section was a pair of skates. With their lack of enthusiasm for this museum, Sarah and I decided it'd be best for them to not be in the picture. :)We couldn't go to Washington D.C. without seeing the White House.

Washington D.C. - The Temple (Day One)

For Spring Break, Adam and I (and Charlotte) went to Washington D.C. with our friends Josh, Sarah and Easton. We left early Wednesday morning and our first stop upon coming into town was the Washington D.C. temple. WOW! What a beautiful sight to see and a great welcome to the city. I had never been to this temple before, but had heard so much about it. It is beautiful and much taller than I anticipated. They had a lovely visitors center there with a lot to read and look at. I am so blessed to have the knowledge of the gospel and to know that I get to be with my family forever.
It was Charlotte's first temple visit!
