Are You Sure It's Okay to Crawl on This Floor?

For some reason Charlotte HATES to crawl on linoleum. If Adam and I are in the kitchen, she'll crawl across the carpet toward the kitchen, but once she gets to the linoleum she just sits on the edge of the carpet trying to figure out how to get to us without touching the linoleum. Sometimes, I set her down on the kitchen floor so I can do something. Here is what she does:For her, the less of her body that is touching the floor, the better. It makes me laugh because she tries to crawl this way, but can't get anywhere. Silly girl!

Music Lessons with Daddy

Daddy decided it was time to give Charlotte her first guitar lesson. For this lesson she worked on strumming. We expect her to be playing "Puff the Magic Dragon" by her first birthday! :)

I'm. in. Love.

One of the things that first made me swoon over Adam was his sincere interest in other people. It seems that everywhere we go, he is able to make friends in an instant because of this trait. While I was cooking dinner last night, he took Charlotte outside to look at the geese and their nest of eggs. When I glanced out at them this is what I saw:

In the few minutes he had been out there, he had managed to strike up a conversation about geese with three girls from the apartment complex. It melted my heart. Can't you just see him with lots of daughters? Anyway, soon there after I heard one of the little girls have this conversation with her mom:

Little Girl: Mom, look geese!

mom: oh...

Little Girl: And a baby. Her name is Charlotte. He wants to be a doctor. He likes smelly feet.

It just made me laugh to see how much they had talked about during those few minutes they had been out there. Then the little girl pulled out a book she had about diseases and started reading it to Adam. They were all out there for about 20 minutes. He was so patient and listened to everything she had to say. It was so cute. I'm a lucky girl.

Um, NO!

Charlotte just learned how to shake her head "no" on Saturday. We have been over encouraging her to do this so we could get a video.

I think we may have created an unintentional Pavlov effect. This morning Charlotte started playing with some wires and when Adam told her "no," she shook her head!

Coloring Eggs, and my pants, and my shirt, and the floor...

Saturday evening Adam, Charlissa and I colored eggs for Easter. I LOVE coloring eggs! Adam and I do it every year, and I always hide them and make him look for them. I must say that he's never too thrilled to search for them, but he's a good husband and does it just to amuse me. This year Charlissa and our friend Rachel came over so I made them look for the hidden eggs too. I made it a competition to see who could find the most eggs, and it was the most excited Adam has ever been about an egg hunt. He definitely has that Nelson competitiveness running though his blood! Back to my story...
So, coloring eggs was a lot of fun! Here are some pictures of us hard at play:
All that smiling came before the accident. I still don't know how I did it, but somehow I managed to spill the red dye all over me and the carpet underneath me. It was funny, but we were so busy trying to make sure it didn't stain that we didn't get many pictures of the huge mess it made. I did get a pic of my pants after I had sprayed stain remover on them.
You can kind of see the red tint under there. It did wash out! Whew! Our carpet has a slightly pink tint to it, but I don't think it's really noticable unless you were present for the disaster. This experience made me grateful that Adam is not my father, but that he is the father of my children. He was very serious and stern as he was removing the stain from the carpet. I did not like him being stern with me, but it is nice to know that he can be stern when he needs to be. I have been married to him for over two years and had never seen that side of him. Haha!

John Johnson Farm

Charlissa (Adam's sister) is here visiting us for a week or so, and we are so happy to have her around. Her first day here, we decided to go and visit the John Johnson farm here in Ohio. I absolutely love seeing all the church historic sites, especially the houses. It really makes the historic people and places come to life. It was a wonderful reminder of the Savior during the Easter season. I am so glad to have the gospel in my life! I am also very grateful for my eternal family!

8 Months

I can hardly believe that my baby girl is already 8 months! She is such a happy baby and is a joy to have around.

Weight: 16 lbs.
Height: 26 inches
At eight months, Charlotte has three teeth. She can sit herself up and army crawl. She eats fruit, vegetables, chicken, eggs and Cheerios. Her favorite toys are the ones that make music! She is always so happy and a great baby! She definitley has a knack for making friends everywhere she goes. I love this girl!

A Fun Day at the Park Gone Bad

The weather has been beautiful (minus today...it's raining. At least it's not snowing!). I just couldn't stay inside with all the sunshine and warmth, so Charlotte and I went to the park with some friends. We had a nice time, and Charlotte loved the swings. She didn't stop smiling the entire time she was swinging! She kept sqealing too, and it was so funny. After she was done swinging I sat her down on the grass to just enjoy being outside. I noticed she was getting some red splotches right by her temples and thought her headband must be aggitating the skin, so I took it off.
When we got home, Daddy was back from his dental appointment (see post below) to get a root canal. We took Charlotte out on the grass to play a while.
I went to the grocery store while Adam put Charlotte down for a nap. When I got home, Adam had to leave for a meeting. After a few minutes, I heard Charlotte crying upstairs which was unusual because she usually wakes up happy. I found her with red blotches all over her skin along her hairline down to her eyelids and back behind the ears down to her neck. I felt some of the little bumps on her skin behind her left ear a noticed something was swollen underneath the skin. I called Adam from his meeting, and he came home. I tried to remember everything I had fed her through out the day, but couldn't think of anything that she hadn't eaten before. While we were waiting for Adam to come home, her skin started getting better. While we deliberated about calling her pediatrician, everything cleared up. We decided that she must have had an allergic reaction to the grass or something in the grass. No worries, she didn't have any breathing problems, and it didn't spread anywhere else on her body. I guess we'll just have to avoid playing in the grass this summer.

Our Trip to the Dentist

So we went to the dentist today. Apparently you are supposed to go more often than once every 4-5 years, being that was the last time I went. Laura went first. Her visit took about 30 seconds. All they did was look at her teeth and then they asked her if they could use her teeth in the next toothpaste commercial because her teeth were perfect. Here is the picture they took of her teeth.

She came out grinning and informed me that she had no cavities. Then it was my turn. As I sat back in the chair I tried to make small talk as the dental hygienist gathered her stuff. Then she pulled out the grim reaper hook and began "cleaning" my teeth. I don't know where they get the idea that this technique is cleaning. I think she must have broken a sweat as hard as she was scraping my teeth. Then she did some "test" to measure how much my gums bleed by sticking them with a sharp object. I think that this used to be a torture technique that has been taught to modern dentistry. I had to take a look around because I thought maybe I missed the dentist's office and maybe I had accidentally walked into the tattoo/piercing parlor next door. She said,"hmmmm, your gums look like they bleed a little bit more than normal, that's not a good sign". I really just wanted to clamp down on her fingers with my teeth at this point. She then took pictures of my teeth with some high tech fancy camera. Here is the picture they took of my teeth.

If any of you have been around me lately you might have heard me complain of a broken tooth I have had since around November. Well it turns out I have two broken teeth. Both of them are going to have to have root canals done on them, so I get to go back to the dentist tomorrow to let her dig in my mouth some more. I guess maybe I should learn to take better care of my teeth.
