Blessed

Jonas has become our little holiday baby.  He was born on Labor Day and due to the craziness of Adam's fourth year of podiatry school, the only day we had available to bless him was Halloween.  It was a beautiful day and a beautiful blessing.  I am so grateful for my little family, and I'm especially grateful that my husband holds the priesthood.  Adam blessed him in my parent's ward in Georgia, and so my whole family was able to be there for it.  It was kind of a big deal for me since Dario and Josh were on their missions when Charlotte was blessed, and Nathan doesn't go to church with us anymore.  He came for the blessing, but had to leave before we took pictures. Having him there was a blessing.  Unfortunately, Adam's family wasn't able to make it out for the blessing.  We missed having them there, but we are looking forward to seeing them very soon!

 My lovely family.

Happy Halloween - Peter Pan Style

This year Charlotte wanted to be Tinkerbell for Halloween. So, we took off with a Peter Pan theme...Captain Hook, Tiger Lily, Tink and Peter Pan.
We were running late to the trunk-or-treat so this is the only picture I got of my parents in their costumes.  It's the first time they've dressed up[ since they've been married.  Aren't they cute?

October Birthdays

Our family has three birthdays to celebrate within the first two weeks of October.  Nathan's is on the 4th, Adam's on the 10th, and my mom's on the 15th.  Unfortunately I failed to pull out my camera for Nate's birthday, but here are some pictures from Adam's and my mom's.

Jonas -1 Month

Just a little update on our growing boy.  This post is a week overdue, but at one month he weighed 13 lbs. and was 23 inches long.  I feel like I can't keep this kid full...he likes to eat about every two to two-and-a-half hours, but has slept at least seven hours straight the past two nights...I hope this sleep habit keeps up!  He's smiling more every day and every once in a while manages to get a coo out.  It's hard to get anything done because I just want to sit and talk to him.

Newborn Portraits

So Wednesday Jonas turned one month old and can no longer officially be considered a newborn.  They change so fast, and he already looks different from those first couple of weeks.  Thanks to my friend Jenny, we were able to capture a little part of baby Jonas during his first week with us.  Here are some of my favorites.

Miscommunication

I consider myself to be very happily married.  I have a very supportive and loving husband who can makes me laugh every day.  Like any married couple, we have strong aspects of our relationship as well as things we need to work on.  Communicating clearly seems to be on our "work on" list.  Last night it really showed through.
For the past week or so I've mentioned to Adam that I would like to trim Jonas's hair around his ears and neck line...just clean things up a bit and make it even.  Adam kept telling me that he was just a baby and to not worry about it.  Well, Jonas's hair has also bee getting more wave to it as the days have gone by.  You can see it a little bit in the following picture.

Well, for some reason Adam doesn't care for curly hair on boys.  Last night after I mentioned how his hair was getting curly, Adam suggested that we cut it.  I agreed, but told him that I didn't want it super short...no buzz cut.  Just clean it up along the edges where it's getting curly and is uneven.  He agreed and we took Jonas up to the bathroom.
Adam pulled out the hair trimmer and said he was going to do a 2.  (I had NO idea what length that meant, but trusted Adam since I had just given him an example of a little boy's hair who I thought was too short.)  Well he starts running the trimmer along the back of Jonas's head, and I can't see from the angle I'm holding him.  Then Adam gets to the side, and I see how short it is and start freaking out saying, "That's too short...I told you not that short."  Adam says, "well, it's too late now."  I start crying because he's giving my baby a buzz cut.  Adam says, "Stop crying Laura. Our daughter is in the room and if she sees how you're reacting to this hair cut she's going to freak out when we have to take her to get her hair cut one day."  So, I fought back the tears.  Adam kept telling me how cute he looks.  I kept telling him that Jonas looks like he's five now, or in the army, or it makes his face look fatter.  It was all very dramatic.  So, here's my baby...with a buzzed head.  Seriously, who gives a two-and-a-half week old a buzz hair cut?
Apparently Adam and I need to work on our communication.  Luckily, we love each other and hair grows back (unless you're Adam).  ;)

Fatty

We took Jonas to the doctor today...just for a check-up before we head down South.  He now weighs 10lbs. 5oz.  (a pound more than he did at his last check-up from a week ago).  He's a fatty.  To celebrate we introduced him to the bottle.  Charlotte did the honors.  He took it without any problems...which means a little more flexability for me.

Giving Baby Jonas a "Baf"

Jonas' umbilical cord fell off last night.  This morning Adam mentioned that we could give him a bath as he was walking out the door to go to clinic.  Well Charlotte got so excited about the idea and asked me all day long, "Time to give baby Jonas a baf?"  I told her we'd have to wait until Daddy gets home.  We bathed him as soon as dinner was over...and of course Charlotte had to be in on the action.
Jonas reminds me of a little puppy dog with his droopy cheeks and baby fat rolls.  He's almost always super content and is very snuggly.  He was really chill during the bath and seemed to be pretty relaxed.  By the time the bath was finished he was falling asleep.
